Mission to Lesotho

Would you like to take part in a short-term mission trip? Do you have a heart for Africa?  There is a team going out to Lesotho this November, and you could join them!

5-19 November 2008

A summary of the trip can be found below.  For details of costs and to apply, please email lifechangeteams@newfrontiers.xtn.org

  • The team's focus will be working with the poor in the capital city of Maseru.

  • Based in Lesotho’s capital Maseru, this team will be working with the City of Joy Church, planted in 2006.

  • The team’s stay will be a ‘big event’ in the life of the church and the focus will be on strengthening the church through outreach and encouraging new believers.

  • The team will be exposed to, and where possible, involved in the church’s work with the poor, especially the ways in which it serves and supports those with HIV/AIDS. There may be opportunities to get involved in smaller projects and practical work.

  • You’ll learn about and may be involved in helping with Farming God’s Way, a pioneering evangelistic farming technique. You could find yourself digging holes or clearing ground.

  • It’s essential that you’re flexible and ready to get involved in whatever is going on as it’s unlikely you’ll have a specific project to focus on.

  • You’ll receive training and input from the leadership team throughout your stay. Topics may include HIV/AIDS, racism, working with the poor, alleviating poverty.

  • Accommodation is likely to be in shared rooms, in small holiday cottages within a walled complex. Travel is by privately hired minibuses.

Leisure opportunities include pony trekking and hiking in the mountains.
