Mobilise in Malmo
God was moving in unexpected and exciting ways in the Swedish city of Malmo this August. The first ever Mobilise Worldwide team went there thinking that they would take Him to the streets but soon discovered that He was inviting them to be part of His bigger plans. Naomi Bedford explains more… ‘During the summer twelve of us from ChristChurch London went out to Malmo to serve Dan Håland and his wonderfully persevering church plant, Thomas Church. Before the week one of our team leaders Joel had a prophetic word for the team about us being like a herd of elephants, able to smash through any boundaries that stood in our way. This was of great encouragement to us particularly as Thomas Church is situated in a predominantly Muslim area. While this was a potential obstacle, we quickly saw proof that Jesus transcends cultural boundaries. On one of our ventures, God led us to a Muslim lady and her daughters. After an initial brief encounter, and a small prayer of blessing for the English-speaking daughter, we left. Five minutes later the same woman and her daughter chased us through the shopping centre. To our amazement and Jesus’ glory, the Arabic-speaking, burqua-clad mother had her daughter translate that she believed in Jesus and wanted us to pray for her. Excitedly we prayed and, when we finished, the mother, barely able to make eye contact, tearfully thanked us and scurried off. Jesus had touched her heart and I know He will honour her faith. Throughout the week we had many more jaw dropping encounters with people. Chatting about Jesus to Swedish party-goers, dancing Capoeira and praying on the beach with some Brazilians, witnessing physical healings, sharing our faith with countless individuals, it was clear that none of our meetings were coincidental. There are so many more stories we could share, all declaring the complete sovereignty of Jesus. If you are looking for an adventure of faith, then I’d encourage you to consider joining a Mobilise Worldwide team. Just step out of the boat and join Him!’ Places are now available for Mobilise Worldwide teams in 2010. Visit www.mobiliseuk.org/worldwide for details. |
