A Catalyst for Church Planting
People are on the move in the East Midlands. As established churches continue to grow, and we look to God for his leading for future church plants in the region, the new Catalyst training programme aims to equip people for the future. Martin Tibbert, from St Neots, oversees churches in the East Midlands and here describes recent developments. In 1997 Anthony and Gill Henson moved from London to the heart of the East Midlands, where they began King’s Church in Leicester. This was the first Newfrontiers church in the East Midlands, and our first step towards the vision to see new churches planted right across the area. In the following years, churches were started in places like Derby, Kettering, Lincoln, Loughborough, Nottingham and Rushden. Now, twelve years later there are eleven churches across the region, with plans for a further church to be planted into Leicester for September 2010. Scott and Emma Else, who are currently based at New Life Church, Biggleswade, will be moving next spring to Leicester in preparation for this new church. This is still only the beginning of our journey. The East Midlands is a vast area, accommodating many significant towns and cities, and is home to over four million people! Our prayer is that we would have 30 churches right across this area and we see Leicester as a strategic centre that will enable us to plant many more churches into this region. On 6 February there will be a Leicester Day for anyone who wants to hear more about the vision for the city and the vision to impact the East Midlands. For more information visit www.mosaicchurch.org.uk To help facilitate this goal of more churches across the East Midlands, a new training course called Catalyst is being launched in January, The course is for those who are passionate about building strong churches, and who are looking to explore the area of church planting. Offering training from a variety of speakers within Newfrontiers, the course provides a great opportunity to be equipped and envisioned to make an impact. The purpose of Catalyst, therefore, is to both strengthen our existing churches, and to prepare for planting more churches into the East Midlands.
