Are You Looking for Adventure?
There are many different ways you can get involved in taking the gospel to the nations. Chances are, there’s a Short Term Mission Team for you, whatever age or level of experience. All that is required is a desire to see God transform lives. Newday Global and Mobilise Worldwide teams are great opportunities for young people and students to get involved in mission abroad.
Mobilise Worldwide:
Are you interested in going to the nations? Are you passionate about seeing God’s kingdom reach the ends of the earth? Have you been to the Mobilise conference and caught a vision for mission? If so then you should consider joining one of the Mobilise Worldwide mission teams on their upcoming trips across the globe. You can read all about a previous Mobilise Worldwide team's experience in our October 09 issue of eConnect here.
Mobilise Worldwide teams are a great opportunity to experience life in a different culture, receive cross-cultural mission training, work with a church in another nation and to explore God’s calling on your life. This year teams will be going to St Petersburg, Russia and Alberta, Canada. During the trips the teams will work with the local Newfrontiers church, receive training on location and spend time out and about in the cities, exercising prophetic gifts, praying and creatively serving the community.
Applications for the Alberta, Canada trip are still open, visit the Mobilise website for more information and to download an application form.
Newday Global:
Jaz Potter (Jubilee Church, Croydon) organises the Newday Global trips and here shares a little of the vision for the teams.
‘Newday Global is an excellent opportunity to gain an insight into how a church plant starts in a nation where there are very few established churches. It’s about adventure and beginning to realise something of the purposes of God for your life.
Newday Global helps you begin to investigate things that you believe that God has been speaking to you about. As a direct result of being part of a team we have had people change which degree they will do in order to equip them to go and make a life in a new nation. One person even served for a year in a church plant in Poland following a Newday Global team! For others it confirms what God has been saying and spurs them on to the next thing - the question is why wouldn't you do it?’
Over the past four years Newday Global has sent over a hundred young people on mission teams to a multitude of countries all over Europe. The first team went to Maastricht, Holland and since then teams have journeyed to Poland, Sweden, Latvia, Spain, Ireland and Portugal. Working with Newfrontiers church plants across Europe, the teams will be very involved in the church they are placed with as well as being out and about in the local community.
Destinations for this year aren’t yet confirmed but application forms are now available online and we would encourage anyone interested to attend the Selection Day. Saturday 13 March is the next Global Team Selection Day, so if you think you might be interested then go along and find out more. Details can be found here. |
