In Brief
Jubilee Health Centre
Cape Town, South Africa
In the last edition of Newfrontiers magazine we told you about the work of Jubilee Health Centre in Cape Town. Since then they have begun to give crisis pregnancy counselling, and voluntary counselling and testing for HIV. Here are a couple of testimonies.
‘… a frightened Kenyan lady came to the health centre to be seen in the clinic. Her fear had resulted in her being aloof and formal in her approach … We ministered to her gently, first medically and then in prayer, our hearts suddenly filling with an overwhelming compassion. As we prayed for her the Holy Spirit began to touch her deeply and tears began to stream down her face in rivers. The stern woman dissolved into a daughter of the Most High, dearly loved and forgiven, desperate for His grace. She returned a few days later for follow-up, now unafraid … God met this beautiful woman and ministered deep within her soul. She is changed by His love and tenderness …’
‘Recently a phone call came through from the other side of the country! On the line was a distraught woman trying to elicit some information regarding an abortion done years before in Cape Town. By His grace and sovereignty, God had brought this dear woman to us in her desperation and we were able to minister His love and truth to her in her grief. As a result she encountered the Living God, full of hope and compassion, rather than simply receiving a piece of information that would have only furthered her pain and left her in despair.’
For those of you who appreciate statistics, during 2008, 1822 clients visited the Health Centre – 1392 women, 430 men, 416 under 15 years old, and 34 between 15–20 years of age.
Please pray for each person who comes for help that they will also seek and find God.
Newfrontiers in Kenya
The number of churches in Kenya keeps growing through healings, signs and wonders, evangelism and church planting. Edward Buria leads Kambakia Christian Centre in Meru, and has been instrumental in seeing many other churches planted. In 1997 there were fourteen churches – there are now over 100, many in areas previously unreached by the gospel and others where there has never been a church established according to New Testament principles. |
