Newday Report

Luke DavydaitisBy Luke Davydaitis, Bedford, UK

It's hard to describe the buzz at Newday: so many people passionate about Jesus, so many exciting stories. Here are a few highlights...

  • Speaking to a lady with a hearing aid and later seeing her testify that God had healed her and she didn't need it any more! There were nearly 200 reported healings, including sight and hearing problems, backs straightened, ligaments strengthened, and many other wonderful miracles.

  • Watching over 300 people come forward to make a first-time commitment when invited to respond to the gospel by Adrian Holloway!

Newday

  • Stef Liston's one-liners. ‘You can't negotiate with God because He knows best, so you don't really bring much to the table.' On people who have fallen away: ‘The gospel didn't work with them? No, they didn't work with the gospel.'

  • Hip-hop group ‘29th Chapter' joining with Simon Brading and bringing an extra dimension to worship.

  • Joel Virgo talking about manhood and womanhood: empowering and liberating Biblical truth brilliantly communicated.

  • A powerful dance performance that communicated Jesus' mighty redeeming love.

  • A huge offering and the roar that was raised when the figure was announced! £111,944 was given for the poor and church planting!

  • Young people going out into nearby Uttoxeter and Derby to engage in social action projects, but also having prophetic words, praying for the sick, and even leading people to Christ!

  • Saying thank you to Paul Oakley. He blew my expectations of Christian music wide open years ago. He has written great songs but also played a key role in raising up the next generation of worship leaders.

  • Seeing so many dear friends whose lives have been transformed by Jesus. For example, a guy who came to previous Newdays as part of a youth group, now at university and helping lead the youth at his new church.

  • Serving a great team. What a privilege to work with Joel Virgo, Nick Derbridge, Stuart Gibbs,Adrian Holloway, Stef Liston and Matt Simmonds. They love God, are passionate about building His church, they're full of integrity, wisdom, humility and fun.

  • Being given a mandate to change the world, not just to have great meetings. Amazing things can happen at Christian events but the fabric of the nations remain unchanged. Emphasising church planting, teaching Christians to be filled with the Spirit and active in every sphere of society, helps to equip us for this greater goal. By the grace of God a generation continues to emerge: how wonderful to be a part of it!
