In Brief
Assam Mission Trip
Franco Lonappan (Mumbai, India) recently went on a mission trip to Assam. Here are extracts from his report. ‘This was my first ever trip to the North-East. Was not sure what to expect … God moved powerfully. Visited Assam and Nagaland – interesting to note that Assam has 1% Christians and 99% non-Christians but the neighbouring state, Nagaland, has 99% Christians and 1% non-Christians.
‘A four-hour journey through a jungle took us to a small village called Titabar where there is a small gathering of 27 people. Prayed for a few … and encouraged the saints by visiting families and praying for them. Another eight-hour journey by rail took us to the first ever oil field of our nation called Duliajan. God spoke to me that “this place will be used to bring revival in Assam. As natural oil was first discovered in that place so shall it be in the spiritual”. When I shared this prophetic word they were very excited because this is the third time God has spoken the same word to that church … saw over 100 people respond to the Lord … more than half the 150 people who gathered came forward to receive the Spirit. Many were healed and went back home filled with the Spirit and rejoicing in the Lord.
‘A prayer team of seven ladies had been praying for a month in preparation for our visit. God heard their prayers and moved powerfully. Sandra was healed of a swollen liver even as she stood interpreting …’
Resurrection Day
The 2,500-seater Caird Hall in Dundee, UK was extremely crowded when Terry had the joy of preaching to believers from 31 churches across the city and beyond on Easter Sunday. He enjoyed renewed fellowship with David Robertson, who now pastors the church once led by Robert Murray McCheyne, as well as having excellent time with Craig Stocks, the leader of City Church Dundee, our Newfrontiers church there. Craig interviewed Terry (before his visit to Dundee) for the Dundee For Christ magazine.

New Word Alive
Terry and Wendy were recently at the New Word Alive conference in North Wales. Here is an extract from Terry’s blog about their time there (www.terryvirgo.org):
‘Wendy and I very much appreciated being invited once again to New Word Alive at Pwllheli. I spoke at two evening Celebrations and took four seminar sessions, which seemed to be very warmly received.
‘However, for me the greatest pleasure was in developing friendships with a number of people whose personal warmth I very much appreciated. It was good to have meals with Hugh Palmer of All Souls Langham Place, and Keith and Kristin Getty who co-write so many songs with our dear friend Stuart Townend, who led worship magnificently together with Phatfish. Actually Wendy, Stuart and I had a great morning out climbing Snowdon (by train!). Beautiful views and great sunshine but very piercing winds!
‘I guess my greatest pleasure was having two hours with Don Carson. What an amazing guy he is. I have already benefited enormously from many of his books that help to fill my shelves, but I was so blessed to meet the man himself and to encounter his beautiful humility and extraordinary breadth of knowledge, not only of gospel truth but also of churches and people across the nations. He seemed to be extremely well-aware of not only the USA scene but also the UK scene and we really enjoyed our time together. I regarded it as a huge privilege to have an extended time with him.’ |
