Scandinavia & The Baltics

The pace is gathering in Scandinavia and the Baltics. It’s a time of strategic moves that we pray will open up cities for church plants.  Below Nigel Ring interviews Mike Betts about his work into Scandinavia and The Baltics.  Below that Andy Moyle tells us more in writing.

Eastern Europe

Back in June, Kev & Em Reilly, planting in Gdansk, Poland, held an Eastern European taster weekend for people interested in moving to plant in Eastern Europe. As a result a UK couple will be moving soon. Matt Medd will be moving to join The Father’s House in Smiltene, Latvia for a year to prepare to plant in Riga, the Latvian capital. The Bakhuisans moved from Lowestoft,UK to Valga in Estonia.

Scandinavia

There are great works being established in Sweden.  Klippan in Rockneby near Kalmar is growing well and making a big impact in a rural scene. Our church in Malmo, just across the water from Copenhagen, is in a time of huge change. It was originally planted in a ghetto area and had gathered 60-70 from fourteen nationalities.  It is now in the process of being relaunched with a city wide vision.

Three couples in the UK are looking to move to the Swedish capital Stockholm in the next 18 months.  They are in leadership and so we are looking forward to a plant with leadership momentum. One of the couples has an apartment in the city centre that can seat 45!

We are seeing our Copenhagen Church as having the potential to be a significant hub in Scandinavia. The Church gathers around 80 people and has recently obtained wonderful premises that are also ideal for using as a conference venue business.

The Together at East of England Conference this October will be a timely gathering of East of England Churches with many from the Northern European scene for refreshing and envisioning.

Relational Mission

As we have got caught up with Northern European nations, we have launched Relational Mission.  This is an initiative aimed at further propelling us into the nations and churches we are working together to plant and support.
