Evangelism in the USA

Evangelism took center-stage this summer in the USA. Several Newfrontiers USA churches participated in Transformation Teams: groups of 10-20 people collaborating with local churches to serve at a citywide event in hopes of sowing gospel seeds and experiencing on-the-spot conversations and healings. The goal was to transform cities, churches and the lives of the team members themselves.

Transformation teams took place in Tacoma, St. Louis, Joplin and Chicago, and amazing fruit came out of each area.

The Transformation Team in Tacoma, Washington had a tremendous impact on the local church as well as the city! “The team raised the temperature of evangelism in our church. The team itself was only made up of five people, but the events we organized created a great need for volunteering and faith. We were able to fill 51 volunteer positions over the weekend! We were excited to see new people stepping out in faith to bless the city. Throughout the weekend we were able to share the Gospel with about 100 people as well as give away hundreds of free waters and balloons and prayed with several people. I was thrilled to see our church mobilized and the kingdom extended!” said lead elder, Bo Noonan.

Another Transformation Team served at a large community fair with Jubilee Church’s Washington, Missouri location. Sixteen team members collaborated with the local church and saw several healings take place. Excitement grew as a total of 112 people prayed to commit their lives to Christ during the weekend! The excitement continued a week later as the St. Louis City location of Jubilee Church saw 19 spontaneous baptisms on a Sunday morning!

Destination Church in Chicago, who also hosted a Transformation Team, experienced growth each month during the summer. Through increased prayer and relentless sowing they have seen consistent guests with a high return rate. One focus of their summer outreach was an attractive teaching series entitled Blockbuster Faith, which paralleled Biblical themes alongside top summer movies. This approach intrigued both believers and non-believers and helped the church to capitalize on their gospel efforts. During four summer festivals they took 680 people through a visual spiritual survey and gave out 7,000 flyers and 4,000 bottle openers along with church information. They were able to share their faith and pray with many people.

Team members and churches alike have been spurred on to share the gospel in faith, knowing that God will continue to express His power, grace and love to a dying world through His church. “…I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.” (John 4:35b)
