Fuente de Vida Church, Bolivia
by David Adjei
At Fuente de Vida Church in Santa Cruz, Bolivia we are currently gathering somewhere between 60 and 80 people at our main Sunday meeting.
A large number of those would be people with some kind of connection to street-life in their background, whether having lived on the streets themselves, or been around drugs, prostitution, alcoholism, etc. in their family life. That number would also include a lot of children and teenagers with a couple of our families having up to eight or nine children.
Although I'm the main church leader I recently spent a couple of months back in the UK together with my family. It was so encouraging to hear updates from Bolivia about how the different teams of people we had left in charge had really pulled together and stepped up to the new responsibilities.
Some of the guys with whom I had been working in the run-up to our being away, and who took over the preaching responsibilities, included guys who had been involved in armed robbery and drugs and had spent time in prison. So to hear how God had used their preaching now to speak into people's lives was very exciting.
We now want to keep working with these guys and the teams to see them growing and developing in their gifts believing that this will give us a good foundation for growth as more leaders means we can reach more people.
Bolivia is the poorest South American nation and our church is largely made up of people from the poorer sections of Bolivian society. Financial needs are great and we'd love to have some kind of income generation program that would train people in good stewardship, help them provide for their families, and aid in empowering them to be actively involved in the mission that Jesus has given us.
Prayer Points:
- For the discipleship and training of leaders
- For the empowering of families
- To reach out to other areas in Bolivia
