Oman

Family of Grace Church in Oman, is made up of four congregations in English, Hindi, Sinhala (Sri Lankan) and Tagalog (Phillippino) languages. Each Congregation has leaders and all leaders attend the English service which is multi-ethnic and multi-cultural with many different statuses and nationalities represented. Once a month the four groups meet together for joint worship.

This month we are running our third marriage course. We also have a ladies' group, men's meeting and a singles' group.  Our children's work (Eaglets) takes place during the Tagalog and English services, and all of the children attend the joint meeting once a month. The children are learning to hear from God and see visions and pictures, and receive words from God.  This is very encouraging for the church.

We have been doing baptism classes this month and a group of 8-14 year olds are ready to take baptism.  We have a youth meeting on Fridays after the English service and we are praying for this group to grow as many leave to go to other countries to study every year.

One mercy ministry is to the Philippine embassy where many runaway housemaids are held with no passport or money and they are often abused and injured.  A group from our church minister, pray, take items of need, sing, perform a play and encourage them.  Many have given their lives to God.

We have just been to India for a mission trip and we are planning to go again on January 2012 and also to Burma (Myanmar) and Tanzania (Zanzibar).

Oman is a very transient community so we have lots of visitors who come and go. Overall we are growing in many ways, although its difficult to measure in numbers as people arrive and leave frequently with work. Last month 25 people left us, but our loss was another nation's gain and we have heard great reports from churches around the world joined by people who were here with us.
               
Finally, Oman is a beautiful place to visit as a tourist.  The scenery is amazing and the local people are very hospitable, so we want to encourage people to visit us here. The best time of year is October – March.
