Leadership of Newfrontiers
By the early 70's Terry Virgo and others began to see that a truly New Testament church must acknowledge and receive the Ephesians 4 ministries of apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers. We believe that these gifts need to be recognised by those churches receiving them. As such they would never be imposed on a local church, rather they would be readily embraced as the relationship develops.
Over the years God has raised up men with these gifts from the various nations in which we are working. Ephesians 4 ministries have developed to varying degrees in different parts of the world. To date God has called us to work together across the nations through men with apostolic gifts who are led by Terry Virgo. However, this is now changing.
Due to growth, and the excitement of seeing those who have formerly been looking to Terry for direction, but are now growing and maturing in their gift, major transition is in progress. Many of those who have been Terry's 'sons' now have significant spheres of relationship of their own becoming 'fathers' in their own right and, through there are fulfilling the mission of Newfrontiers. There is now a process of de-centralisation taking place as autonomous inter-dependent apostolic spheres are recognised in many parts of the world. The future of Newfrontiers will be many spheres having a network of relationships with each other. |
