Newfrontiers in Portugal

Newfrontiers currently have two churches in Portugal; one in the Algarve at Lagos and the other in the north in Penafiel.

In 2004 the Igreja Evangélica Cristã (www.afonte.com.pt), located in Penafiel in Northern Portugal, was officially welcomed into the Newfrontiers family after many years of building a warm relationship. The church is led by Mike Shore and is wholly Portuguese speaking.

In September 2009 the church moved to a spacious and modern facility which serves as a home for the local church and a conferance centre serving the north of Portugal. In another exciting development the church will be participating in a church plant into Porto. A team of five from Penafiel will be joined by others from Southampton, Bolton and possibly other UK churches to see a church built in this major city. They will begin moving into Porto in January 2010. We enjoy a close relationship with the English Wessex Region of churches led by Guy Miller.

In 2006 the International Church (www.icc-lagos.org) led by Dave Chester became part of Newfrontiers. The church is situated in Lagos in the Algarve on the southern coast of Portugal. The church is English speaking and reaches out into the large international community, and is developing links with the city of Lagos itself.
